Three films of three various genres are slated to be screened at the eighth day of Fajr Film Festival.
Mehran Ahmadi’s comedy ‘Confiscation’, philosophical film ‘The Misunderstanding’ directed by Ahmad Reza Motamedi and Behrouz Shoeibi’s social drama ‘The Woodpecker’ are the three films to be screened at the eighth day of the event.
Set in the US and Armenia, ‘Confiscation’ is a comedy film that follows the story of a SAVAK (Iran's security service before the Islamic Revolution) agent escaping to the US after the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
‘The Misunderstanding’ is the story of a hostage taking and deals with utter complexity in absolute simplicity.
“There is nothing harder in life than seeing someone you love decided to be alone. You enjoy seeing her and hearing her voice, but she closed the doors and chooses loneliness in your place ... There is nothing harder in life than being left alone. You see your loved ones and you love them, but they all deny you. They closed doors on you and you are alone. Loneliness is a swamp,” a synopsis for ‘The Woodpecker’ read.
Established in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.
Since its establishment, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.
Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran every year.
The 36th edition of the Fajr Film Festival is being held in venues across Iran on February 1-11, 2018.
